KOCHI: Five teams battled it out on the dance floor and the big crowd swayed back and forth in a frenzy. The grand finale of the third season of the Idea Dhoom dance competition at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium was a crowd-puller.

Though the programme began at 6.45 pm on Saturday, 45 minutes later than scheduled, the crowd was excited. There were group and solo categories. First appeared the Jazz Peckers on stage with their Dhoom song. Ranjini Haridas, the most popular mistress of ceremonies, anchored the show along with actor and former Miss India-Asia Pacific Shweta Menon. DJ Vishnu was on his console playing a piece or two in between and keeping the audience footloose. The first team to come on stage was Harishree College, Kozhikode, which set the dance floor on fire with brisk steps. The black robed dancers with face tattoos danced to the tune of the latest hit song from Raaz. The only girl contestant Shalini from Kochi wooed the audience with her power-packed rain dance.

The Tandav School of Dance from Kochi presented a peasant dance, ushering in the festive mood of harvest.

Rameez from Palakkad, who was voted the best dancer in the individual category, virtually burned the dance floor with his absolute foottapper track and impeccable expressions.

His ‘Nada Nada’ song and black costume fit the bill of his theme - ‘say no to drugs’. The last group performance turned out to be the most electrifying of all. The SCT Engineering College made it to the top slot with their terrific dance moves and flawless coordination.

The cheer girls headed by Divya Vithalani added to the upbeat mood.

She lifted the spirit and energy level of the audience with her chirpy and lively interaction. The young crowd whooped when the cheer girls threw gifts to them. The pulsating performance of Shibani Kashyap, the music sensation from Bollywood, was the highlight of the show. Jassie Gift made a guest appearance and sang a zippy dance number in Tamil much to the delight of the crowd.
