KOCHI: M P John and Jaison Isaac won the Best Humorous Speaker and the Best Evaluator Awards respectively at the Toastmasters International area contest held here on Saturday. The occasion was chaired by Nirmala Lilly, the Area Governor for Area G1. The first and second runners up in the Best Humorous Speaker contest are Dr Thomas M J and Jayesh Abdul Rahman while Anoop A and Stanley John Mathew won the First and Second runner up awards respectively in the Best Evaluation contest. Toastmasters, a non-governmental organisation is headquartered out of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, USA. It has over 250,000 members worldwide with 12,500 clubs in over 106 countries. Through its member clubs, Toastmasters help men and women learn the art of speaking, listening and thinking - skills that promote self actualisation, enhance leadership potential and foster human understanding.
The Toastmasters club is a “learn by doing” workshop in which the members hone their public speaking skills in a comfortable, mutually supportive atmosphere.
