Thousands attend Koratty Muthy’s feast

ANGAMALY: Thousands of devotees attended the festival of Koratty Muthy at Marian Pilgrim Centre at St Mary’s Forane Church, Koratty,on Sunday.
Fr Paul Manayampilly was the chief celebrant of the solemn Holy Mass. Fr Jolly Vadakkan delivered the homily.
Fr Anand, Fr Mario Anthony OCD, Fr Paul Nellissery and Fr James Athikkalam MSJ said the Holy Masses in different languages.
Veneration of miraculous statue of Koratty Muthy in solemn procession and benediction were also held.
Rosary procession holding lighted candles around the church, blessing of all kinds of vehicles on different days of the feast, offering thulabharam, initiating kids into the world of letters and blessing of tens of thousands of bunches of plantains (Poovankula), the main offering of the festival, are rare rituals of the feast.
Elaborate arrangements were made to celebrate the festival by a committee headed by vicar Fr Lukose Kunnathur.
The nine-day octave celebrations will begin on October 22.
