KOCHI: The Excise Department Special Squad arrested two brothers

for selling drug ampoules, on Wednesday evening.

Anish and Rajesh were nabbed by a team led by Special Squad Circle Inspector Renjith A S  near the Ernakulam KSRTC bus depot.

The Excise officials said that the accused were caught selling injection ampoules of a drug named Buprenorphine Lupigesic.

On seeing the officials, the duo fled from the scene. Preventive officers K V Baby and V A Jabbar were injured in the chase and fight which ensued.

 The officials said the brothers had begun selling drug ampoules after serving a few years in prison for petty and criminal cases.

Apart from selling the ampoules for `300, they also gave half-dose

injections for `150.

The  officials also seized the syringes used for the purpose and 15 ampoules from the brothers. They had also concealed three ampoules each in their body.The Excise officials are on the look-out for ‘Chicken Nissar’ who had been supplying drugs to the duo.

The raids were conducted as per the special instructions of Ernakulam Deputy Excise Commissioner K Mohanan and Assistant Excise Commissioner M J Joseph to strengthen patrolling in the areas adjoining the KSRTC depot, Udaya Colony and South Railway Station.
