The police arrested three persons accused of murdering a youth on the national highway near Thirumuppam temple near Varappuzha on Monday night. The arrested are Charles, 24, Jithin, 26 and Jipson, 33, friends of Saneesh who allegedly stabbed him with a knife following altercation over a mobile phone.

According to the police, the incident occurred as the four were returning home after a wedding party. They had consumed liquor. The fight broke out midway when Saneesh asked Charles to drop him at his house as there was no bus service at that time. But Charles refused to drop him telling that his bike did not have petrol. Saneesh soon seized Charles’ mobile set and refused to give it back saying that he would return that only after he dropped him at his house. Charles then took out a knife and stabbed on Saneesh’s chest,” said K A Abdul Salem, CI, North Paravoor.

The three friends then fled from the place. The passers-by found Saneesh lying unconscious on the roadside. They mistook him as an accident victim and informed the police. Before reaching hospital Saneesh had breathed his last. The  arrested were produced before the Paravoor Judicial First Class Magistrate and were remanded in judicial custody.
