Fire at Vyapara Bhavan

A fire broke out at the office of the Vyapara Bhavan in Ponnarimangalam in Mulavukad in the wee hours of Wednesday. The loss is estimated to be about `1 lakh, according to the officials with the Fire and Rescue Services.

The breakout was detected by the police patrolling in the area at around 4 am, who in turn reported it to the Fire Department. Though the building housed a jewellery shop and a stationery shop, the damage is largely reported to be in the office of the Vyapara Bhavan.

“By the time we reached all the files in the  office were destroyed. Only minor damage was reported in the jewellery shop but the flames did not spread to the area, said the fire-fighters.
