The temporary staff of the Irrigation Department should be made permanent employees, just like the KSRTC workers who were in the M-panel and teachers who were in the temporary list, demanded Kerala NGO Association state general secretary K V Murali. He was inaugurating the state convention of the Kerala Irrigation Staff Association here.
Murali said some workers in the department have remained temporary for the last 30 years. “I fail to understand why they are still put on the bottom rung although they have been labouring for the benefit of the state’s agriculture,” he said.
