The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court on Friday convicted and awarded rigorous life imprisonment to Sasi, 52, of Tazhava in Kollam, an accused in the murder of Sivakumar, a construction worker from Andhra Pradesh.
Sessions Judge V G Ajith Kumar also slapped a fine Rs 25,000 on the accused. On 2, December 2007, the accused murdered Sivakumar, who was sleeping in a room at Chottanikkara by beating with a nail bar on his forehead, left ear and on the face.
Prosecutor Premson Paul Manjamattom submitted that Sasi committed the murder after Sivakumar had taken his walkman without permission.
