Kalam baggage: Probe begins

The ADGP Intelligence has ordered an investigation into the situation in which former President A P J Abdul Kalam was harshly treated by the officials of an airline company at the Cochin International Airport while returning from here to New Delhi.

Following this, the Special Branch officials reached the airport and discussed it with the CIAL officials on Friday afternoon.

Sources in the Special Branch said that they will discuss the issue with the officials of the airline company and take action against the officials.

It was Express that reported that Kalam was subjected to harsh treatment while boarding the Kochi-New Delhi AI 047 flight around 7.30 pm last Saturday. An airport security personnel refused to carry Kalam’s luggage to the plane stating that passengers should do it. Following this, the flight was delayed for 20 minutes.

Finally, the airline company airport manager had to carry all the baggage to solve the issue.
