Residents’ Associations take out protest march

Various residents’ associations at Perumanoor took out a protest march against the abrupt stoppage of the construction of a drain under the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP) to prevent water-logging in the area on Friday.

Thousands of people, including women and children, participated in the march.

David Parambithara, convener of the action council which took out the march, said that the work was put on hold to preserve the interests of five families.

“This has put around 3,000 families living at Atlantis, Ravipuram, Kalathiparambil Road, Thoundayil Lane, Panampilly Nagar and LIG Colony in peril,” they said.

The march, which commenced from Ravipuram Padiyathu level-crossing, concluded near the Perandoor canal.

Ravipuram Residents’ Association, Atlantis Residents’ Association and LIG Owners’ Association participated.

At the meeting, various residents’ association presidents like David Parambithara, Jacob George, K A Xavier and Hari spoke.
