The three-day conference on Endocrinology, and Diabetic Foot at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences has concluded.
As part of the conference, a series of video demonstrations of complicated diabetic foot surgeries by expert surgeons and presentation of new surgical techniques in Diabetic foot were made. Recent developments in Endocrinology and Diabetes were also discussed.
Dr Robert Frykberg and Dr Aparjita Nakra from the USA presented papers on diabetic foot infections and the best way to manage the problem.
Dr Shashank Joshi of Mumbai and Dr Usha Sriram of Chennai presented papers on new medications that are available for the diabetes treatment.
The latest treatment guidelines for managing hypothyroidism complicating pregnancy was also discussed at the conference. Other faculty presented papers on delayed puberty and thinning of the bones (Osteoporosis). Dr Harish Kumar, HOD Endocrinology Department, Dr Vasantha Nair, Dr R V vijayakumar, Dr Ajitkumar Varma, Dr Unnikrishnan and Dr Usha Menon also spoke.
