Karshaka Morcha flays illegal land allotment

The Karshaka Morcha has alleged that under the guise of re-survey, land is being illegally allotted to the private parties, along the Thevara-Perandoor canal stretch.

Karshaka Morcha district secretary T Balachandran alleged that even while the  re-survey of the canal is yet to be complete, several plots of land with the required sketch and plan, and have been allotted to the private players.

The secretary pointed out that the area near the Pottakuzhi Church has been heavily misappropriated. The stretch near the sub-station of the Chengadam Canal is also facing a similar condition.

Balachandran demanded that the re-survey of the Thevara-Perandoor canal stretch should be completed at the earliest.

“The taluk surveyor is obliged to initiate the survey considering the fact that the issue concerns several villages. Meanwhile, the Town Planning Department must prohibit the construction of the fences to mark the plots along the canal,  before the completion of the re-survey,” he said.
