Tearful adieu to Aroor accident victims

A large crowd thronged the houses of Sumesh and Nelfin, the victims of the tragic accident at Aroor, for taking part in the funeral rites on Monday.

A large crowd thronged the houses of Sumesh and Nelfin, the victims of the tragic accident at Aroor, for taking part in the funeral rites on Monday. The bodies of both the deceased were handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem on Monday.

The funeral service of Nelfin was held at  St Augustine’s Church, Aroor, at 11 am, while Sumesh was cremated in the evening, on the premises of his house. 

Chellappan, Kallumkal House, Thayicaducherry, A K Karthikeyan, Ammaparambil House, Elamkunnapuzha and K A Narayanan, Kochuparambil House, Perumbalam, were also cremated on the premises of their houses on Monday.

The local people observed a hartal in Aroor protesting against the apathy of the government which claimed the lives of innocent people. But no cases of violence were reported from the area. The buses operated as usual and the private vehicles were not obstructed.

Shops remained closed in the area and a holiday was declared in some of the schools in Aroor.
