Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, made history yet again emerging as the winners of Goal 2013 football match. While the win was nothing new for them, the team was no less enthusiastic about it.
“When you win for the first time, people consider it as luck. It is only when you win the second time that your position as the best team is recognised. Now we have established ourselves as the Team Barcelona among the college football teams in the state,” said K M Shafeeq. Fizal Rahman, who won a host of awards, could not control his joy.“I want to dedicate all my eight goals to my valentine,” he said.
“During most tournaments, there is hardly any proper accommodation arranged for us. There are days when we are just given a classroom. There is neither a bed nor a clean bathroom. The prize money too is often a farce. This is the only tournament where footballers are treated well,” said Muhammad Shiaz, who won the award for Best Defender.
