Refinery workers observe hunger strike

Members of the Cochin Refineries Workers Association (CRWA) and the Refinery Employees Union (KRL) have begun a relay hunger strike demanding wage revision, on Wednesday.

The strike was inaugurated by Suresh Kurup MLA, the president of CRWA. “As many as 1,250 non-management employees are working at the refinery. They are drawing a salary as per a 10-year agreement signed in 1998. Now the employees find it difficult to manage with a salary that was fixed 14 years ago,” Suresh Kurup MLA said.
