‘LNG terminal to be operational by March’

The LNG terminal at Puthu Vypeen here would be operational by March end, said A K Balyan, managing director and chief executive officer of Petronet LNG Ltd (PLL). Though the original capacity of the terminal is five million tonnes per year, only around  20 per cent of the capacity will be utilised in the first phase.

He was speaking at a press conference after attending a high-level meeting of the PLL, GAIL, NTPC and the Cochin Port Trust (CPT) convened by T K A Nair, advisor to the Prime Minister, here on Thursday.

He added that the detailed feasibility report (DPR) of the proposed 1,200-MW LNG-based power plant at Puthu Vypeen will be completed by March.
