Adding fuel to fire, the Congress I faction councillors of the UDF-led Corporation on Saturday filed a complaint against the Works Standing Committee chairperson before the secretary of the Local Self Government Department.
Supporting the allegations raised by the opposition at the last council meeting, some of the I group councillors alleged that the chairperson has not presented the files and applications regarding the road cutting and restoration works before the committee for the past two years. “Several files, in connection with the civil works, were passed without the approval of the Works Standing Committee members. Both the secretary and the standing committee chairperson did not take the steps to bring the files to the notice of the members. The files were passed by forging the documents,” alleged the members.
Earlier, the opposition members had alleged that they had obtained the details of 36 files regarding road restoration which were not presented during the Works Standing Committee meetings.
