Stale food: Two hotels closed down

A team of Food Safety officials, led by Food Safety Commissioner Biju Prabhakar, conducted inspections at restaurants in the city.

Closure notices were served to two restaurants, while improvement notices were served to five others. Closure notices were served to a restaurant on Diwans Road and a bar hotel in Pallimukku.

“Meen Ruchi and Castle Rock restaurants were closed down on Saturday. We had earlier issued improvement notices to both these restaurants.

“The notice to close them down was issued after we found  stale food as well as food being prepared under unhygienic conditions at these restaurants,” said District Food Safety Officer K Ajith Kumar.
