Vijnana Veedhi to be inaugurated

Vijnana Veedhi, a project conceived and devised by Union Minister of State for Food and Public Distribution, KV Thomas, to encourage education, will commence on Monday. The project will be implemented in seven selected assembly constituencies of Ernakulam district.

As part of the scheme, books worth Rs 1,500 will be distributed to plus one students, to increase their general knowledge. Nearly 1550 students will be benefited by the first phase of the project. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, CDs, general knowledge books, year-books and biographies will be distributed to them.

The project will be launched by Thomas at the Rama Varma Union High School on Monday. S Sarma MLA, district panchayat p r e s i d e n t E l d o s e Kunnappilli and veteran journalist T V R Shenoy will also attend.
