Meeting to decide setting up of silos today

A high-level meeting would be held at the Ernakulam Guest House on Monday, in connection with the setting up of food grain procurement centres in the state and the construction of silos in Ernakualm and Kozhikode.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K V Thomas and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob would be present.

Ministry of Food Joint Secretary Prasanth Divedi, Food Corporation of India executive directors Anoop Kumar and Surendra Singh,  general manager Thamara Kannnan, State Civil Supplies Secretary and District Collectors of Ernakulam and Kozhikode would also be present. The meeting would discuss the scheme to build  silos to store ample quantity of rice in a scientific manner.

The Central Government had sanctioned silos of 25,000 tonne capacity to  the state.

It will further discuss the setting up of container freight station of Central Warehousing Corporation at FACT’s land in  Eloor.
