Accused in Paravoor sex scam ends life

In a turn of events, just two days before the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court is to announce the verdict in the fourth case related to Paravoor sex scandal, one of the accused in the case allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Elamkunapuzha on Saturday evening. The deceased is Rajashekaran Nair, 73, Kankamkulam Nilayam, Elamkunapuzha.

According to the police, Rajashekaran Nair was a retired naval official and living in the neighbourhood of the Paravoor victim. After receiving bail in the case, he sold his property in Paravoor and along with his son moved to Elamkunapuzha. His wife had left him and was living with her relatives after Rajashekaran’s involvement in the case came to light.

“On Saturday, Pramod, son of Rajashekaran, who returned from Kochi around 7 pm found his father’s body hanging in the hall of the house. “He was in depression for the last few days,” Pramod said. We suspect that he died around 6 pm,” a police official said.

Rajashekaran was a driver while serving at Indian Navy. He was the third accused in the fourth case of the Paravoor scandal. Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court will announce the verdict in the case on Monday.

The parents of the victim girl are the other two accused in the case. Rajashekaran had appeared in the Court for trial two weeks ago.
