Two YC leaders from Aluva elected

Two Youth Congress leaders from here belonging to the ‘A’ group, who recieved last minute nominations, have been elected to the state leadership.

Youth Congress national training co-ordinator Adv Jebi Mather Hisham and former Chalakudy Parliamentary Constituency president K S Bineesh Kumar filed their nominations before the end of deadline, at the behest of some regional leaders.

It was reported that state leadership had neither plans to approve nomination nor issue an official request to the electorate to vote for them.

But local ‘A’ group leadership had a rethink and resolved to stand by the candidates.

Jebi Mather, daughter of KPCC general secretary K M I Mather, won the seat as general secretary from a seat reserved for women. Her popularity within the electorate and her position as woman candidate swayed the electorate in her favour. Total votes cast in her name were 317. Whereas in the case of Bineesh Kumar it was 157 votes cast for him.
