A woman riding pillion on a scooter died in an accident on the National Highway on Sunday.
The accident occurred when her husband, who was riding the vehicle attempted to take a U-turn at Companypadi and a car suddenly came and rammed the scooter from behind.
Subaida, 37, wife of Abbas Kadavilan of Elookkara here is the deceased. Her husband Abbas suffered a fracture on the right leg. Subaida was taken to a private hospital nearby but could not be saved.
The couple were returning home after a function at a friend’s house when the mishap occurred at the U-turn on the National Highway.
This is reported to be the second accident at almost the same spot on the NH in a space of just four days.
A 40-year-old man was killed when the autorickshaw in which he and and his two children were travelling was hit from behind a few days ago.
The autorickshaw driver had also been waiting to take a U-turn when a car smashed the vehicle from behind, in the same manner as Sunday’s mishap.
