MVD set to flaunt a friendly face

The MVD is set to get more people-friendly and, as part of the move, complaint cells have been constituted

Next time you step into the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) office,  you will be welcomed by smiling faces and polite officials or at least that is what the new transport commissioner Rishi Raj Singh envisions. 

The MVD is all set to get more people-friendly and as part of the move, complaint cells will be constituted wherein the public can directly contact the transport commissioner if they face any bitter experience from the MVD officials.  According to the MVD officials, the complaint cell will constituted at  headquarters and Regional Transport Offices.

“The cell will solely look into the complaints from the public against  officials and the department. There are 20 complaint cells, five each at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and North Zones. In Ernakulam  district, complaint cells have been formed at Deputy Transport   Commissioner’s office, Regional Transport Officers Office (Kochi), Regional Transport Officers Office (Rural),” officials said. In the recent order brought out by Rishi Raj Singh, it was stated that several complaints of misbehaviour are pouring in against the MVD officials. 

“It has come to notice that certain staff in Regional Transport Offices and  Sub-Regional Transport Offices are behaving in a rude and indifferent manner towards the public who approach the offices seeking various services, despite repeated instructions from the headquarters. Every employee should   behave politely and in a pleasing manner besides providing satisfactory  answers to the queries and doubts. They should extent maximum help to everybody to get the service done. All the head of the offices should pay special attention in the matter. If any complaint is received against any member of staff regarding rude and indifferent attitude towards the public, it will be viewed seriously,” stated the order.
