Social activist and a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kiran Bedi on Thursday said here that civil society governance has the potential to be a parallel government.

Kiran will inaugurate the Leadership Summit of Principals, organised by ‘Students For Palliative Care’, an initiative of Alpha Pain Clinic, on Friday at 9 am at Fine Arts Hall here.

She said civil society should actively participate in the nation-building process. “Civil society can actively contribute in health sector, especially in the realm of palliative care. The new companies Bill passed in the Lok Sabha states that all corporate have to mandatorily spend 2 per cent of their average net profit for CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities,” she said.
