The faces of Indian cinema

Malayalam film industry has been missing Jagathy Sreekumar and his acting prowess for the past one year. However, all his contributions, especially the ‘navarasas’, were once again remembered through the caricature of cartoonist Ebrahim Badusha.

The works were the part of the caricatures of 100 important personalities of ndian film exhibited by the Heart Light Association held in connection with the 100th year celebration of Indian Cinema.

The caricatures on expired and living personalities in the film industry  were exhibited here at Bharat Tourist Home.

Balachandra Menon, who inaugurated the exhibition, appreciated the caricatures on Jagathy Sreekumar. “The mood of ‘navarasas’ in the film ‘Udayananu Tharam’ by Jagathy has been depicted in the picture. Not many people have explored with this type of art. These forms of art should be promoted.”

Other caricatures include those of Dadasaheb Phalke, Satyajit Ray, Mrinal  Sen, John Abraham, Aravindan and others. A spot cartoon caricature was also held. “I have tried to feature caricatures of film personalities, such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth,  Madhu, Sheela and others who contributed a lot to the industry”, said Badhusha.

Balachandra Menon inaugurated the exhibition. Heart Light Association chief advisor K L Mohana Varma presided over the function. K K Prakash, M J Job, Avaneeswaran Jayachandran and Deepak Ravi Menon were present among others.
