ARME organises clean-up drive on Fort Kochi beach

The Association of Royal Mechanical Engineers (ARME), a voluntary organisation of SCMS College of Engineering, Karukutty, on Sunday conducted a cleaning drive at the Fort Kochi beach, one of the major tourism spots in the city.

Hibi Eden MLA inaugurated the cleaning drive. The programme commenced in the morning with the participation of 200 members of ARME.

Two truckloads of garbage, weeds and debris were removed from the place, with the help of the Kochi Corporation. A message board was also placed at the beach against environment pollution.

A machine put up for display by the ARME at the beach drew the attention of visitors, with its unique technique of producing purified drinking water by treating waste water.

The machine, designed by eighth semester students of SCMS College, is affordable and consumes very less energy, which makes it highly user-friendly.
