One more held in fake currency note case

In a major development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested one more accused in the Thaliparamba Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) case, taking the total number of persons booked in the case to six.The arrested was Muhammed Yousuf alias Shihab of Kasargod.

The NIA implicated him as the sixth accused in the case. He will be produced before the Ernakulam NIA Special Court on Wednesday.

Yousuf, who had been absconding for long, was arrested at the Delhi airport after being deported from UAE with the assistance of the Interpol. Shereef, the seventh accused in the case is yet to be arrested.

Yousuf was brought to Kochi on Tuesday at 9 pm. The NIA special Court had issued non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the accused several times, which could not be served. The NIA had returned the NBW and the investigating officer made an application in the court for initiating proceedings under Sections 82 and 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code to compel the appearance of the accused and seek permission to attach the property owned by the accused.

According to the NIA, the accused was  brought to book when they were in the process of attaching his properties.
