It will be gala time for pet lovers in the city with Splash Fish Expo and Pets Show set to begin on Wednesday. The show, organised by 

Kozhikode-based NGO ‘Santhvanam’ and ‘Prism Events’, will showcase a variety of ornamental fish and pets.

The show, to be inaugurated by Mayor Tony Chammany at the Marine Drive Helipad, will be open for public viewing till April 22. “The exhibition will showcase over 1,000 rare varieties of fish, including flower horn, black ghost, blue dolphin and lion head. Also on display are 80 varieties of exotic birds, guinea pigs, white rabbits and persian cats,” said show  coordinator V P Prinson.

He added that the plan was to display modern aquariums and cages. “Various aquarium products, filters and accessories and pet supplies will also be available,” said Prince.

A special showcase session for rabbits, turkeys, dogs and other rare species   will also be arranged. Dogs of various breeds, including pugs, boxers, pottweilers and german shepherds, will also be on display.

A variety of fish species including reptile cat fish, giant gourami and milkwhite carp will be there at the expo. The aqua show will also have a dotted marine fish ‘Electric Ray’.
