3 held for assaulting shop owner

The Ernakulam central police have arrested three persons for assaulting a shop owner at the High Court Junction on Thursday.  The accused were identified as Faroki, 36, a native of  Aryand,  Kunjumon, 35 and Muhammad, 42, both of them hailing from Mannancherry.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday when the trio were trying to mobilise funds for a political function. Anoop, the owner of the shop, refused to give money for the function.

Following this, the trio vandalised the hotel and assaulted the owner.

On the basis of a complaint filed by the shop owner, the Central Police registered a case and trio were taken into custody from Alappuzha. Sources in the  police department  stated that the accused were collecting money for a function organised in Alappuzha.
