HC summons Corporation Secretary

The Kerala High Court on Monday directed the Secretary of the Kochi Corporation to appear before the court and explain its stand stand on a petition alleging that the functioning of the Rehabilitation Centre at Palluruthy under the Corporation was not effective.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice K Vinod Chandran issued the directive as counsel for the Corporation was absent when the case came up for hearing on Monday. The secretary has been directed to appear before the court on June 4.

The court issued the directive while considering a petition filed by P J Peter alias Snehalayam Peter alleging there were lapses in rehabilitating street children at the facility. directive was sought to prevent begging, especially by children, within the Corporation limits.
