KESA to raise demand for pay revision

Raising several demands, the 56th annual meeting of Kerala Engineering Staff Association (KESA), the union of engineering employees of the Public Works and Irrigation Departments and Local Self-governing Bodies has been scheduled in Aluva, beginning on Friday.

Association president  M V Sudarsanan said that 12 major issues regarding the functioning of the department will be discussed in the three-day meet. The association has demanded that  the procedure for the 10th Pay Commission be started immediately and also to provide interim relief to the employees. Association spokespersons demanded the move to cut the number of vacancies and barring of appointments be revoked to ensure the availability of staff in the department.

Dividing the local self-governance department into three sectors, functioning under three ministers, has obstructed the proper functioning of the system, they alleged. The association called for the re-check of the special rule act in the irrigation department.
