The HMT Canteen Employees’ Federation, CITU, has objected to the management’s decision to distribute different wages to canteen workers doing the same work.
T Jayakumar, union joint secretary, said during October, the management had distributed higher wages to workers affiliated to a newly-formed independent union.
“Majority of the workers are with the CITU. We had raised the industrial dispute in Alappuzha industrial tribunal regarding the wage structure. This dispute is unsettled,” he said. He added that the CITU will challenge the management decision. However, management officials were not available for comment.
