Cops intensify check

The Kochi City police on Sunday intensified two wheeler checking in the wake of bike race accidents.

The police has registered 26 cases for rash and negligent driving while 60 cases were registered for drunk driving and and 27 cases for speeding.

The police also registered 584 petty case for several offences. The cops booked 39 cases for careless driving against drivers of other vehicles. In addition, 30 cases were registered for drunk driving, 95 cases for speeding and 455 petty cases for drivers of four-wheelers. A report has been submitted before the Road Transport Authority, recommending the cancellation of licences of 138 people. The authorities also recovered Rs 4.71 lakh as fine amount from various offenders on Sunday.Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammed Rafiq said  the check will continue in the coming days.
