Senior fellowship for scholars

Carnatic music writer and poet Tripunithura Poornathrayeesa Jayaprakash, kathakali maestros Evoor Rajendran Pillai, Kalluvazhi Vasu and Thiruvattur Jagadeeshan were awarded senior fellowship of Union Ministry of Culture.

The fellowship of Rs. 4.80 lakh has been awarded as a recognition of the research and documentation on sanskrit literature and kathakali. The duration of fellowship is two years.

While research on the references about ‘Panchaboothas’ in the ‘Veda-Sangha Kala’ literature and in classical music won fellowship for Poornathrayeesa Jayaprakash, Evoor Rajendran was awarded the fellowship for his study on the lesser popularity of ‘Kirathasunucharitham’ kathakali and for documenting the ways to improve popularity of the same.

Kalluvazhi Vasu has been awarded the fellowship for his comparative study on the representation of women in three performing arts kathakali, koodiyattam and krishnanattam.
