Kozhikode strike gold twice in 4x100 m relay

The riveting battle for top honours between Ernakulam and Palakkad in the 57th State Schools Athletics Championship was summed up in the senior 4x100m relay on day three, as the hosts clinched gold in the boys’ section, while the defending champions emerged victorious in the girls’ event.

The boys relay saw Ernakulam lining up three students from St George’s HSS and one from Mar Basil HSS.

Though perennial rivals in the district schools’ category, the quartet displayed impeccable understanding to emerge clear winners in the contest. The Malappuram team, comprising Ameer Suhail P T, Saheeranas K, Salmanul Faris V C and Sufaid T K, claimed the junior boys’ relay gold while Thrissur overcame stiff competition from Pathanamthitta to win in the sub-junior boys’ category.
