Call to start cancer centre

The Paravur Taluk Residents’ Association’s Apex Council (PATRAAC) has come forward seeking the government intervention to start a cancer centre in the district.

The Paravur Taluk Residents’ Association’s Apex Council (PATRAAC) has come forward seeking the government intervention to start a cancer centre in the district.

They said they have put forth the demand as they are apprehensive that private lobbies would make every efforts to throttle the  move. They also urged the government to take over the Cochin Medical

College, Kalamassery. The PATRAAC said the condition of the early detection centre at Kaloor is deteriorating every day.

“In view of this, every taluk hospitals in the state should have an early detection centres which offers services free of charge,” the office bearers said.

They added that the rehabilitation centres and the palliative care centres should be started across the state.

“As the expense for cancer treatment are huge, drugs  should be distributed free of cost,” they said.
