In another hit-and-run case reported in the city, a 74-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a speeding car at Pallimukku Junction here on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kamala Subramanium, Sree Vishwanath House, Cross Link Lane, M G Road.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 6.30 am when Kamala Subramanium was crossing the road to reach a temple.
A witness informed the police that she was hit by a white Ambassador car which did not stop after the incident happened.
She was rushed to a private hospital where she succumbed to injuries. The body was handed over to the relatives after postmortem examination at the Ernakulam General Hospital.
The police officials said that though they tried to locate the vehicle using CCTV cameras, they could not get any details.
The cameras in this location were not working owing to construction work and some were having technical issues. Currently, the investigation is being carried out on the basis of a statement given by the witness.
