Karshikotsav from December 1

The official inauguration of the State Agri Fest, Karshikotsav, will be held at Muvattupuzha on December 1. The festival will be held at the makeshift hall spreading over nearly 60,000 sq ft put up at Muvattupzha EEC market.

 Flower show, ornamental fish exhibition, pet shows, expo of agricultural produce, trade fairs, amusement, food court and the cultural fest are the major highlights. The inauguration of the festival will be held at 5 pm in the presence of Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas, Finance Minister K M Mani, Water Resources Minister P J Joseph and other civic administrators.

The pavilion for the flower show will be set up at the 4,000-sq ft area where flower arrangement and vegetable carving competitions will also be conducted.

The pavilions for ornamental fish exhibition and pet show have also been set up at the primary pavilion. African Love Birds, Cocktail, Zebra Fringes and Diamond Dove are some of the major attractions of the pet show.

The stall set up the Pineapple Mission is another attraction. The major agricultural crops and equipment for farming and trade fairs will help enlighten the crowds and promote farming.

The Karshikotsav will conclude on December 8. It will also see seminars led by agricultural experts.  The seminars will be held at the Seminar hall at EEC market from December 2.

 V M Abdul Hakkeem of PFDC, Thavanur, will handle the inaugural session on High-tech agriculture. On December 3, a special session will be held on pineapple farming.  Special sessions will also be held on spices, fish farming and its immense scope and nutmeg plantations. An open forum on ‘Coconut Farming: The Issues and Scopes’ will be held on December 5. The exhibition of various cattle breeds and dog show will be the highlight of the sixth day of the Karshikotsav.
