The shadow police arrested Murukan, 55, son of Subbaih, for selling cigarettes to school children near Woodland junction on Wednesday. The police had received information that several people are selling cigarettes near schools, defying government order.
The police handed over the student, who bought cigarette, to his parents.
City Police Commissioner K G James said that police will take stern action against the selling of tobacco items in the school premises.
The police also arrested Sajeevan, 38, son of Shankaran, Kannarikal house, Kakkanad for misbehaving with women.
