Several persons were booked for overspeeding and not wearing helmets, in an inspection conducted by the Motor Vehicles Department across the state. Palakkad attained the dubious distinction of having the highest number of cases, with 85 persons booked and 46 licences cancelled in the district. A total of 85 cases were registered in Thiruvananathapuram and 22 licences were cancelled.

In Alappuzha, a total of 73 persons were booked and 16 licences cancelled. Ernakulam fared comparatively better, with only eight persons being booked and only three licences cancelled.
