The highlights of the SCRIPT, the International Short Film Festival

The fourth edition of SCRIPT, the International Short Film Festival, organised by the Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis concluded recently. The Golden Halo awards for the winning films were given away by actress Revathy. She was honoured with the Rotary Vocational Excellence award by the District Governor-Elect Venugopal Menon. The jury was headed by director Shyamaprasad. The other members included film director, Sanjeev Sivan, and the husband-wife team of Prof Jayashankar and Prof Anjali Monteiro from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

The winners in the five different categories were:

Film-makers

l First place: Kotti (Marbles) by Santhosh Peringath

l Second place: Shubam by Jeen Gadhi

Documentary

l First Place: Dr. Paws by Pooja Iyengar

l Second place: A Dream Called America by Anoop Satyan

Students

l First Place: Badalte Nakshe by Nithila, Kanagasabai, Nitya Menon, Archana Sardar, Likokba Sangtam (Class of 2013, Tata Institute of Social Sciences)

l Second place: Boys don’t wear nail polish by Sidharth Chauhan

International

l First place: Mon Amoureax (My Sweet Heart) by Daniel Metge (France)

l Second place: Jacobo by David Del Aguila

Mini Films

l First Prize. : Dust bin by Anoop Satyan

l Second prize. : Celebrate inclusion by Balamurugan Muthian

At the awards function, the Muthoot Pappachan Group announced their  association with the Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis to launch a Youtube channel to promote short films and budding film makers and students doing films with social causes.

The Rotary Binani Zinc awards recognising the CSR initiatives of Corporates were given away by the Chief Guest, Mohan Ram, the renowned management expert. Awards were sponsored by Binani Zinc Ltd. TA Joseph, Managing Director, Confident Group, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, presented a cheque for `5.5 lakh to the organisers. This would be utilised for the proposed subsidised kidney dialysis  project of the Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis.
