Police Nab Accused in Kidnap Case

Ernakulam central police arrested a man on Tuesday, who was allegedly involved in kidnapping a person, a year after the incident.

Ernakulam central police arrested a man on Tuesday, who was allegedly involved in kidnapping a person, a year after the incident.

The arrested has been identified as Rumesh alias Savi who has been absconding for a year.

  According to the police, the accused allegedly kidnapped Nasir who was a junior artist supplier in films and serials. “ The accused had also asked for ransom and stole around `1 lakh and gold ornaments,”the officials said.

  “The incident occurred on July 29 when Nasir was travelling along with junior artists at Kunjen Bava Road near Kadavanthra.

The accused, along with eight other people Kannan, Lalju, Metro, Sharath, Praveen, Kicha, Roomesh and Nibin abducted Nasir into Rumesh’s house at Maradu. Following this incident, the gang brutally attacked Nasir  and stole the money and other valuables.

 The other eight accused had been arrested and the police were on search for Rumesh.

“The accused was arrested while he was attending his brother’s wedding,” the officials said.
