14 Autorickshaw Drivers Booked

KOCHI: The City Police have registered more cases of traffic rule violation in various parts of Kochi on Tuesday.

The police in a press release said that 14 autorickshaw drivers were held for plying without fare meters. Two autorickshaw drivers were booked for refusing to operate fare meters despite being requested by passengers.

Action was taken against 55 two-wheeler riders for riding under the influence of liquor. Cases were registered against 125 persons for rash and reckless driving. As many as 855 persons were booked for speeding and the violation of other traffic rules.

The police have sent a report to the Motor Vehicle Department, requesting the cancellation of licences of five persons. The police have collected `1,41,300 as fine during the operation.
