CIAL Aims For the Sky With New Logo

CIAL Aims For the Sky With New Logo

ALUVA: Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has got a new logo and brand identity on Monday. Minister K Babu unveiled the new logo and brand identity of CIAL at the airport conference hall. Dubbed Navaswagatham, the logo, whose design has been derived from the coconut palm leaves that is indigenous to Kerala, resembles a flight in motion.

“The new brand identity emphasizes the aspiration of CIAL to remain rooted to the culture and community of the state, even while aiming for a greater responsibility towards promoting a greener sky,” said CIAL MD VJ Kurian, addressing the function.

The chief guest for the event, Minister K Babu hailed CIAL as a model enterprise.  “When it was first conceived, Kannur airport was built along the lines of CIAL model. We firmly believe that the branding exercise will raise CIAL’s image across the world. The operating efficiency of the airport is unparalleled. For every rupee spent by the government on the airport, the company has paid back `1.32 in full,” he said.

The construction of the international terminal will be completed shortly, he added.

Airport director A C K Nair termed the branding exercise as an effort at making a mark in the international aviation industry. “In its past 16 years of operation, the airport has grown from a small scale industry to one of the largest companies in India. The investments for all these development procedures were minimal,” he said.

MD V J Kurian said that the company is dedicated towards providing meaningful rehabilitation packages and promoting a green culture. “CIAL is the first green field airport constructed under PPP model in India. We also aim to be power neutral by 2016, by promoting our own renewable energy sources. Every sector of the airport including the new international terminal and kiosks will reflect the changes that we have brought about with our new logo and branding exercise,” he said.

‘Idiom’, a company based in Bangalore, designed the new logo and helped in assimilating the brand identity into the life and soul of the airport.

“The logo is based on the fact that green culture is a benchmark of the airport. The design has been borrowed from the coconut tree and reflects the intrinsic culture of the state,” said Idiom co-founder Sonia Manachanda. Minister K Babu unveiled the logo by switching on the launch video and handing over the 3D version of the logo to MD V J Kurian.
