KOCHI: The city police on Wednesday refuted the allegation raised by the joint action council that Leeba Ratheesh, the victim who was allegedly tortured by the police, fainted during the police interrogation. R Nishanthini, Deputy Police Commissioner, told ‘Express’ that the allegations that Leeba was fainted down during the questioning is absolutely baseless. “Based on the rumours that Leeba was no more, I assigned some officials to go there for verifying that”, she said. There was a widespread rumour prevailed on Wednesday that Leeba was dead and the action council would observe a hartal on Thursday.
