KOCHI: The police on Tuesday arrested a youth who allegedly supplied LSD to an accused who attended the DJ party of Russian musician Vasily Markelov alias Psykovsky at a hotel in Kochi. The arrested is Fifin Francis, 23, a native of Poovanthuruth, Kottayam. The police  recovered 12 Lysergic Acid Diethylamide(LSD) stamps and 3 gms of hashish from him.

According to the police, Fifin was a regular supplier of drugs to youth and schoolchildren in Kochi and Kottayam area. Fifin has confessed that the LSD was brought from Goa. “After the raid on the DJ party, we had arrested a youngster named Sebastine, 24, of Vytilla from whom a powder suspected to be Ketamine was recovered. In the chemical examination, the powder was found to be LSD. The LSD in liquid form was dropped over sugar crystal and used by the accused persons. The technique was used to evade police as normally LSD is supplied in sticker form. Sebastine had revealed the name of Fifin who supplied LSD to him. Fifin handed over the powder to Sebastine before the DJ party started. On the basis of this, a trap was laid and the accused was arrested,” the police officials said.

According to Hari Shankar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, the police team arrested him from Petta area in Tripunithura on Tuesday afternoon. “After getting the information about Fifin, we decided to contact him pretending as a regular user of LSD and placed an order for it. After regularly contacting him by mobile phone, he agreed to supply LSD. He had agreed to bring the LSD at a location in Tripunithura. As planned he arrived at Petta and was arrested. Using and possessing even a small quantity of LSD is non-bailable offence,” he said.

The police sources said that they had also laid a trap to nab another drug supplier. Even though he promised to bring drugs, he did not come on Tuesday. Teh police team waited for more than two hours for him.

Fifin Francis would be produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate on Wednesday.  After confirming that the powder recovered from Sebastine was LSD, the police would move court to cancel the bail granted to him. The police are also investigating whether the arrested Fifin has any connection with DJ Mithun C Vilas alias Kokaachi, who was arrested earlier in the drug case.
