Unexpected Blow Shatters Couple

KOCHI:For Jothis, a nurse who returned from the war-torn Libya, being with her little one back home was a matter of extreme pleasure, which eased the pain of leaving her job.

But the bliss was short-lived. Jothis was shattered beyond consolation at the loss of her daughter Eza Sarah Edho, who died in Friday’s accident at Kothamangalam.

Eza was brought up by her grandmother as her father Eldhose Mathew too was working abroad - Saudi Arabia.

Eldhose, who returned from Saudi Arabia two years ago, is still in shock. When the accident occurred, Eldhose was waiting for Elza at Nellimattom, three km away from the accident spot. As the school bus failed to come on time, he called the driver, who gave him the sad news. Though he took her to hospital, where Jothis has been working as nurse after returning from Libya, it went in vain.

The 11-year-old Eza’s demise was a great shock to her grandmother Saramma also, as she had been taking care of the child until Eldhose and Jothis returned to India.

“She was brilliant both in studies and extra curricular activities. She was very much attached to everyone in the neighbourhood,” said Sharon, one of the neighbours.
