KOCHI: The Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has delivered ICGS Apoorva, a fast patrol vessel, (BY 514) to the Indian Coast Guard, 51 days ahead of schedule. ICGS Apoorva is the 15th of the 20 FPVs being built for the Coast Guard by the CSL.The vessel will be operated from the Coast Guard Station, Goa.
The contract for the design and construction of 20 FPVs was awarded to CSL on October 20, 2010 through a competitive tender. Though CSL had been repairing Indian Coast Guard ships in the past, this was the first building order for Cochin Shipyard from the Coast Guard.
