KOCHI: The City Traffic Police on Monday arrested three private bus drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and competitive driving in two separate incidents at Pachalam and Atlantis Junction.
In the first incident, police arrested the driver of a private bus named Navas plying at Vaduthala route for driving under the influence of alcohol at around 8 am. The bus was taken into custody. After registering a case, the bus was produced at court.
In the second incident, two bus drivers were arrested for competitive driving causing an accident at Atlantis Junction at MG Road in the evening. The buses involved in the competitive driving were Ave Maria and Heaven. The competitive driving by the bus drivers caused a minor accident and some of the passengers were shifted to the hospital.
Steps have been initiated to cancel the permit of the buses with Motor Vehicle Department.
